Reflection #10
Knowing that the Kirkland area has a lot of technology in the public schools is motivation for us as future teachers to be prepared to know how to use the technology. At the same time, there are still school districts in which do not have very much technology at all. Even though I do not want to rely on technology as a teacher, I do know its benefits, and I feel that it would be great to be in a school with technology to use. I wonder if it would be very difficult to go from knowing about all of the technology out there in classrooms to working in a school that has none. I begin to realize that I would rather work in a school that has the option of using technology rather than being restricted to very little resources. This being said, I have found that technology in the classroom definitely is beneficial and I understand why so many people are fighting to get it in the classrooms.

Kirstie,
ReplyDeleteWhile many schools don't have lots of tech right now, you have to think long term. You will probably be in the teaching field for at least 30 years. In that time, things are going to change drastically and you will be expected to use tech more and more. It is important to remember that yes, you might not see it as much now, but there is a time coming in the near future where this will not be optional in any district. Instead it will be the expectation and the norm.
